On Sunday, 26 April 2026, a significant milestone was reached at Ramakrishna Mission, Jhargram, with the inauguration of the newly constructed Sidhu-Kanu Staff Quarters. The ceremony was graced by Swami Bodhasarananda ji Maharaj, Assistant General Secretary, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, who formally inaugurated the building.
The project was completed with the generous financial support of the Tribal Development Department, Government of West Bengal, which provided a grant of ₹3.23 crores. The newly constructed five-storey structure consists of ten 2 BHK flats, each spanning approximately 850 sq. ft., equipped with modern ancillary facilities. These quarters are specifically designated for the staff of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira (EMRS), a premier residential co-educational higher secondary school serving the tribal students of the Jhargram district.
The naming of the building pays homage to Sidhu and Kanhu Murmu, the heroic tribal freedom fighters who led the Santhal Rebellion (1855–1856) against colonial oppression.
The inaugural ritual was followed by a solemn gathering on the school campus. During the meeting, Swami Bodhasarananda ji Maharaj addressed the students, offering words of spiritual and academic encouragement. He urged the youth to draw inspiration from the ideals of Swami Vivekananda and strive for excellence in their future endeavors to serve the nation.
The event was attended by the members of the Managing Committee, staff members, students, and a large number of devotees.
