Maternity and Child Welfare Services: Chennai Vidyapith, September 2025

The Infosys Foundation funded Maternity & Child Welfare Project was inaugurated on 4 September 2025 by Respected Swami Dharmatmanandaji Maharaj. The event was organized by the Post Graduate Department of Social Work of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda College, Mylapore, Chennai – 600 004.

Mr. Suryanarayanan, Associate Vice President, Infosys Chennai, attended as the Guest of Honour, representing the Infosys Foundation. In his address, he recalled how the project was first conceived when he was serving with the Foundation and expressed his happiness that its implementation was entrusted to the Ramakrishna Mission, an organization renowned for its integrity and last-mile delivery.

Swami Dharmatmanandaji Maharaj, in his brief address, highlighted the importance of self-help techniques that can generate income from home, especially for women from underprivileged backgrounds.

The beneficiaries of the project were from economically weaker sections, mobilized with the support of the selfless social work group “Aram Valarttha Nayagi” (English: The Goddess Spreading Dharma).

Dr. Parameswaran, Head of the PG Department of Social Work, spearheaded the project. The programme was also graced by Dr. Shanmugavelayudham, an eminent social work professional and a sincere devotee closely associated with the Ramakrishna Mission Centres at Malliankaranai, Coimbatore, and Chennai.

As part of the initiative, 100 pregnant women were each given a Nutritional-cum-Hygiene Ration Kit consisting of:
