National Sports Day 2026, observed under the theme “Khelega Bharat, Jeetega Bharat” (India Will Play, India Will Win), was jointly organised by Ramakrishna Kutir, Almora and Vivekananda Seva Samiti, Kakrighat on 29 August 2026. The programme was held in honour of Major Dhyan Chand, the legendary hockey player whose extraordinary contribution to Indian sport continues to inspire generations. The observance sought to promote the values of physical fitness, discipline, sportsmanship, and healthy competition among the youth of the region.

Sporting Events
As part of the programme, two competitive races were organised:
- A 10-km marathon for boys, conducted from Kakrighat to Khan Gaon
- A 4-km race for girls
Both events drew enthusiastic participation from the local youth.

Participation and Attendance
Approximately 80 boys and 30 girls participated in the sporting events, along with a number of local residents. The total gathering comprised 174 persons. Refreshments were served at the conclusion of the programme.
The programme served as a meaningful platform to cultivate physical fitness, discipline, and a spirit of healthy competition among the youth of the region, and was received with enthusiasm by the local community.
