National Sports Day was observed at Ramakrishna Math, Ichapur from 28th to 30th August 2026 through a three-day programme promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork among children and youth, in the spirit of the national message “Khelega Bharat, Jitega Bharat”.
On 28th August, an awareness discussion on the theme of National Sports Day was held at the Ashram premises with approximately 150 students from Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa, Mayal K.C. Roy Institution, and the local community. Swami Nityayuktananda, Swami Ajeyananda, and Sports Teacher Ruhul Amin and Sujata Kumar addressed the gathering on the importance of physical fitness, mental strength, and character development through sports. A digital tribute to Major Dhyan Chand and eminent Indian sports personalities was also presented.
On 29th August, a football match was organised between Mayal New Tarun Sangha and Vivekananda Sports Academy at the Mayal School Play Ground.
On 30th August, a Cycle Rally was flagged off from the Ashram premises, proceeding to Raghunathpur and onward to Mayal School.
