In response to the nationwide initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, and in accordance with the guidelines and circular received from the Headquarters, Belur Math, Ramakrishna Mission, Siliguri, West Bengal, observed National Sports Day 2026 on 30 August 2026 under the theme “Khelega Bharat, Jeetega Bharat”. The celebration comprised three events held at three different locations across the region.
Event 1: Cycle Rally
A Cycle Rally was organised as the first event of the day, commencing at 7:00 am from Nauka Ghat. The rally proceeded through Jalpai More, Station Feeder Road, Hashmi Chowk, Guru Nanak Chowk, Ramakrishna More, and ISKCON More, concluding at the Ramakrishna Mission Matri Bhavan Campus, Siliguri.
All participants were awarded medals. Cash prizes and mementos were presented to the winners of the first, second, and third positions — all young students from schools and colleges of the region. Breakfast was served to all participants and volunteers following the prize distribution ceremony.
Event 2: Kho-Kho Competition
The second event, a Kho-Kho Competition, was held at Ramakrishna Saradamoni Vidyapith, Ashram Para, Siliguri. The competition commenced at 10:30 am with the singing of the National Anthem and the National Song, and continued until 5:00 pm.
Four teams each from the boys’ and girls’ categories participated in the competition. All participants received medals, while the winning and runners-up teams were presented with trophies and fruit juice packets.

Officials of the Kho-Kho Sports Federation of Siliguri attended the event. Lunch and refreshments were served to all participants and attending officials.
Event 3: Football Matches
The third event comprised Football Matches organised jointly by Ramakrishna Mission, Siliguri, West Bengal, and Naxalbari Sri Ramakrishna Ashram (see note below), held at the Naxalbari Forest Village Football Ground, Rathkhola, Naxalbari. The matches began at approximately 1:00 pm.
The programme commenced with a small procession, followed by the singing of the National Anthem and the National Song upon reaching the playground.
