On 12 January 2026, to commemorate the 42nd National Youth Day and the 164th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, Ramakrishna Math, Lekhamba, Ahmedabad, jointly organized an extensive series of educational, cultural, and sports activities. The event was held in collaboration with Bharat Mata Mandir (Sanand), Prathamik Shikshak Sangh (Sanand), and Swami Vivekananda Seva Samiti (Bopal–Karnavati).
Core Program Highlights
The celebrations were designed to inspire the youth through various competitive and devotional segments:
- Competitions: The event featured elocution, essay writing, and drawing competitions.
- Cultural Performances: Highlights included a ‘Mini Akhyan’ based on the life of Swami Vivekananda, a costume competition, and mono-acting performances.
- Sports: Kabaddi competitions were held to promote physical fitness and teamwork.
- Devotional Observance: Students and teachers participated in the worship of Swami Vivekananda, conducted in a solemn and devotional atmosphere.
Participation and Outreach
The main event saw massive engagement from the academic community:
- Attendees: 27,900 students and 350 teachers participated.
- Representation: 109 educational institutions were represented at the gathering.
- Prize Distribution: To encourage the study of Swamiji’s teachings, winners and participants were presented with books and photographs of Swami Vivekananda.
Satellite Events across Ahmedabad and Visnagar
The spirit of National Youth Day was further extended through programs at several other institutions:
- M N College, Visnagar: A celebration was held on 12 January with 120 students and staff members.
- Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), Ahmedabad Chapter: A symposium on Youth Empowerment was conducted on 12 January, attended by nearly 40 students and faculty members.
- National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Gandhinagar: A similar symposium on Youth Empowerment took place on 13 January, drawing 300 students and faculty members.
These diverse programs successfully promoted Swami Vivekananda’s ideals of character building, service, and national integration among the youth.
