Ramakrishna Kutir, Almora, celebrated the 42nd National Youth Day on 12 January 2026. The event was held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Vivekananda Corner, centered around the statue of Swami Vivekananda.
Ceremonial Inauguration
- Chief Guest: Sri Ramji Sharan Sharma, Chief Development Officer (CDO), Almora, officially inaugurated the programme by garlanding the statue of Swami Vivekananda.
- Vedic Invocation: Monastic members of the Kutir performed Vedic chanting, followed by a floral tribute offered by all dignitaries at Swamiji’s feet.
- Distinguished Guests: Special guests Sri Ajay Verma (Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Almora) and Sri Prakash Chandra Joshi (former Chairman, Nagar Palika Parishad, Almora) delivered speeches focusing on the significant periods of Swamiji’s life spent in Almora.
Inspirational Addresses and Cultural Programme
- Speeches: Students and dignitaries shared reflections on Swami Vivekananda’s teachings, emphasizing his role as a perennial source of inspiration for the youth.
- CDO’s Message: In his keynote address, Sri Ramji Sharan Sharma encouraged the students to integrate Swamiji’s ideals into their daily conduct and character.
- Performances: Students from the Government Inter College, Lodhia, and the Vivekananda Study Circle presented a cultural programme showcasing the life and message of Swami Vivekananda.

The celebration was attended by approximately 50 school and college students and 100 other participants, including local citizens and devotees.
