Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith, Chennai, marked National Youth Day 2026 by hosting three major events at the Vivekananda College that combined physical fitness, professional development, and high-level academic research.
1. NSS Marathon: “Swadeshi Sankalp Run”
In alignment with recommendations from the Ministry of Education, AICTE, and UGC, the college NSS units organized a “Run for Swadeshi.”
- Participation: Approximately 200 students took part in 2km, 3km, and 5km marathon categories.
- Chief Guest: Prof. Dr. Anandan, NSS Coordinator at the University of Madras, addressed the gathering and flagged off the run.
- Proceedings: The Chief Guest was formally honored by Prof. Vivekanandan J.P., Controller of Examinations, RKM Vivekananda College.
2. Yuvotsav 2026: ICSI Annual Students’ Meet
Collaborating with the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), the college hosted “Yuvotsav 2026” on January 11 and 12. This two-day meet served as a national platform for aspiring Company Secretaries.
- Attendance: Over 350 students traveled from various regions across India to participate.
- Competitions: The event featured 22 diverse on-stage and off-stage contests, including:
- Academic & Creative: Essay writing, legal puzzles, quizzes, and calligraphy.
- Performance & Arts: Storytelling, acting, singing, rangoli, and photography.
- Objective: The meet fostered a spirit of cultural exchange and academic excellence among the participants.
3. 11th International Conference (Accounting & Finance)
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Department of Accounting and Finance and Bank Management, the college held a prestigious international conference.
- Theme: “Global Banking, Business, and Finance in Transition: Innovation, Sustainability, and Strategic Resilience.”
- Global Reach: Conducted in a hybrid mode, the conference featured 23 research papers with contributions from international scholars in London and Dubai.
- Key Speakers:
- Inaugural Address: Delivered by Mr. Abhinav Subramanian (Senior Tax Manager, PwC – United Kingdom).
- Technical Sessions: Global insights on digital banking were provided by Mr. Praveen Kumar J. (Poland) and Mr. Abhinav Bhadrinarayanan (Bahrain).
- Valedictory Address: Delivered by Mr. Avichi Krishnan, Tally Evangelist and Tax Consultant.
