Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Ulubari, Guwahati, celebrated the 42nd National Youth Day on 12 January 2026 with a formal public meeting and a series of youth-centric competitions.
Commemorative Meeting
The main event was held at the Vivekananda Auditorium from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The program commenced with Vedic Chanting and devotional songs performed by the monks of the Ashrama.
- Chief Guest: Dr. Nil Mohan Roy, a prominent educationist, former professor at Pandu College, and Chairperson of Shikshan Parishad (North Assam), graced the occasion.
- Special Guest: Revered Swami Nareshananda ji Maharaj, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, Sahudangi (West Bengal), enriched the gathering with his presence and insights.
- Key Discussions: Speakers enlightened the audience on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda. A significant highlight was the speakers expressing their gratitude to the Union Government for declaring January 12th as “Swadeshi Diwas” starting this year.
Youth Participation & Competitions
The celebration extended beyond the main meeting to include competitive and cultural engagement:
- Pre-Event Competitions (4 Jan 2026): In the week leading up to the main day, the Ashrama hosted Art, Song, and Speech competitions for students from various schools across Guwahati.
- Award Ceremony: The winners of these competitions were honored with prizes during the public meeting.
- Performances: Selected students and youth members addressed the gathering and performed patriotic and devotional songs.
Conclusion
The meeting was well-attended by students, devotees, and admirers of Swamiji’s philosophy. Brahmachari Devichaitanya Maharaj concluded the session with a formal vote of thanks.
