National Youth Day 2026: Sri Vijaya Puram

Ramakrishna Mission, Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair)

Ramakrishna Mission, Sri Vijayapuram, in collaboration with the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs and the Department of Education (Andaman & Nicobar Administration), celebrated the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and National Youth Day with profound reverence and enthusiasm on 12 January 2026.


Morning Session: Grand Commemorative Procession

The celebrations commenced at 6:30 a.m. with a vibrant, large-scale procession from Netaji Stadium.

  • Inauguration: The march was jointly flagged off by Shri Vikram Singh (Director of Education/Sports/Higher Education, A&N Administration) and the Secretary of the Ashrama.
  • Participation: Over 900 participants, including professors, teachers, students from local colleges and schools, and trainees from the Ramakrishna Mission Vocational Training Centre, joined the event.
  • Atmosphere: The procession was marked by powerful slogans of Swamiji’s messages, patriotic songs, and placards featuring excerpts from his historic speeches.

Administrative Meeting at JNRM

The procession culminated at the Swami Vivekananda statue at Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM), followed by an official meeting organized by the local administration.

  • Chief Guest: Ms. Chanchal Yadav, Commissioner-cum-Secretary.
  • Key Themes: Speakers, including Shri Vikram Singh and monastic members, emphasized Swamiji’s man-making and character-building ideals. They urged the youth to study Swamiji’s literature to gain mental strength and a clear sense of purpose in the modern world.

Afternoon Session: “Youth Arise” Cultural Performance

At 2:30 p.m., the Ashrama hosted the “Youth Arise” cultural program in the Old Temple Hall to further showcase student talent and spiritual awareness.

  • Participants: Representatives from 10 schools participated in the event.
  • Disciplines: Approx. 25–26 students competed in categories including speech, elocution, devotional song, and recitation, demonstrating remarkable talent and a deep connection to Swamiji’s teachings.
