Ramakrishna Mission, Itanagar, celebrated National Youth Day 2026 through three distinct events held at the Hospital, the School of Nursing, and the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Arunachal Pradesh.
Event 1: Ramakrishna Mission Hospital Campus
The observance began with a solemn ceremony at the Hospital Park near the statue of Swami Vivekananda.
- Ceremonial Rites: The proceedings included the offering of garlands and a performance of Arati at the statue.
- Inspirational Addresses: Speakers included Ms. Millo Anu (3rd-year GNM student), Dr. Daram Tok (Dermatologist), and Dr. Purak Mugli (Department of Medicine). Each highlighted the relevance of Swamiji’s teachings in shaping youth character. Swami Vedasarananda, Secretary of the hospital, concluded the addresses by expressing gratitude to the attendees.
- Cultural Program: First-year nursing students presented a group song, followed by a solo performance by Rev. Swami Pradiptanandaji Maharaj. The event concluded with the National Anthem.
- Attendance: Approximately 150 participants, including monks, medical staff, and the general public, were in attendance.
Event 2: Ramakrishna Mission Hospital School of Nursing
A vibrant cultural and educational program was organized by the faculty and students of the School of Nursing.
- Inauguration: The program commenced with the lighting of a ceremonial lamp and floral offerings to Swami Vivekananda. This was followed by a patriotic group song and the chanting of the Swadesh Mantra.
- Key Speakers: After a welcome address by Principal Smt. Rani Borang Tamut, students Ms. Nukngin Yanchang, Ms. Pooja Pradhan, and Ms. Mikma Dolma Tamang shared reflections on Swamiji’s ideals.
- Guest Messages: Rev. Swami Vidyadhishanandaji Maharaj and Chief Guest Dr. Lobsang Tsetim (Head of Optometry) delivered encouraging messages to the youth.
- Cultural Highlights: Second and third-year GNM students performed traditional folk and classical dances. The event, attended by 100 people, ended with a vote of thanks by Vice Principal Smt. Narang Sumpi and a final group song.
Event 3: National Institute of Technology (NIT), Arunachal Pradesh
A special event themed “Relevance of the Teachings of Swami Vivekananda” was held for the university community.
- Participants: Approximately 100 students from NIT attended the session.
- Distinguished Speakers: The gathering was addressed by Swami Vedasarananda, Smt. Priyanka from Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV), and Professor Mohan V. Aware, Director of NIT.
- Core Message: The speakers elaborated on how Swamiji’s philosophy remains a vital guide for national development, values, and the character-shaping of modern youth.
