Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Kamarpukur, celebrated National Youth Day on January 12, 2026, with a grand program involving extensive community participation, motivational sessions, and the distribution of academic scholarships.
Commemorative Procession
The day’s events commenced with a massive procession featuring approximately 2,500 participants, including devotees and students from 30 different organizations and schools. The rally covered a distance of 3 kilometers, traveling from the Ramakrishna Mission campus to Chatti. Upon arrival, participants paid solemn obeisance at the statue of Swami Vivekananda.
Youth Convention and Guest Speaker
Following the procession, a Youth Convention was organized for students, teachers, and guardians. To inspire the young audience, the Mission invited Sri Swapan Bandyopadhyay from Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith, Purulia, who delivered a motivational address on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda.
Scholarship Awards
In a significant initiative to support education and empower bright students, the Mission distributed prestigious annual scholarships totaling ₹1,00,000:
- Sister Nivedita Scholarship Awards: A total of ₹50,000 was awarded to three potentially bright girl students.
- Surendra Nath Mitra Scholarship Awards: A total of ₹50,000 was awarded to three potentially bright boy students.
Conclusion
The celebration concluded with the distribution of noon Prasad, which was served to a total of 3,000 students and devotees, fostering a sense of community and spiritual fellowship.
