Ramakrishna Math, Madurai, celebrated National Youth Day on 7 January 2026, with a grand program dedicated to the ideals of Swami Vivekananda. The event commenced at 10:00 a.m. with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, Pushpanjali, and Vedic chanting, followed by a welcome address by Swami Nityadipananda, Adhyaksha of Ramakrishna Math, Madurai.
The program featured soul-stirring Bharathiyar songs by students of Rani Lady Meyyammai Aachi Tamil Music College and a vibrant cultural segment. Highlights included the Vijaya Geetam by students of Sri Sarada Vidyavanam School and a drama on Swamiji’s life performed by students of Ramakrishna Math Sarada Vidyalaya. Dr. R. Vanniararajan, former Principal of Swami Vivekananda College, Thiruvedagam, delivered an inspiring lecture on Swamiji as an embodiment of motherly love and valor.
The Chief Guest, Swami Vimurtananda (Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Math, Thanjavur), delivered a thought-provoking keynote address titled “Accumulation of Constructive Energies – Swami Vivekananda.” The event also showcased the winner of the previously held collegiate speech competition, who presented her oration to the assembly. In total, 1,310 students from 20 institutions participated. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Swami Dayasagarananda, the National Anthem, and Jai Ghosha, followed by noon prasadam for all 1,500 attendees and the distribution of inspirational books.
Commemorative Arati (12 January 2026) On the morning of 12 January, the Ashrama observed Swamiji’s birth anniversary at the auspicious time of 6:33 a.m. Approximately 50 devotees gathered at the beautifully adorned statue of Swamiji for a ceremony featuring conch blowing, Namavalis, Bhajans, and floral tributes.
