Ramakrishna Math, Madurai observed Universal Brotherhood Day on 11 September 2026 to commemorate the 133rd Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s historic participation in the World’s Parliament of Religions at Chicago in 1893. The programme was held from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
A total of 645 students from 6 colleges and one school participated in the event. Swami Nirmaleshananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Tirumukkudal, and Sri V. Mathiazhagan, Retired DEO, Thiruvannamalai, addressed the gathering.
Students of Rani Lady Meyyammal Achhi Tamil Music College, Madurai rendered Tamil translations of two poems of Swami Vivekananda — “A Benediction” and “Many Happy Returns” — set to music composed by the students themselves. Students of the Ashrama’s Sarada Vidyalaya Matriculation School staged two short plays.
All participants were served a cooked meal at the conclusion of the programme. The event ended with the singing of Vande Mataram and the National Anthem.
