Flood Relief

Himachal Pradesh: Floods and landslides triggered by continual heavy rainfall wreaked havoc on a large portion of the state, claiming many lives and rendering thousands homeless.  In the wake of the disaster, Shimla centre distributed 1300 kg rice, 1300 kg wheat flour, 260 kg pulses, 130 litres cooking oil, 130 kg salt, 40 kg assorted spices, 260 kg sugar, 35 kg tea powder, 120 ladles, 60 sets of rolling boards and pins, 60 knives, 300 glasses, 300 plates, 60 spoons and 300 items of other assorted cookware, 520 toothbrushes, 130 tubes of toothpaste, 260 bars of bathing soap, 130 bars of washing soap, 65 kg detergent powder, 130 buckets, 130 mugs, 520 mattresses and 1040 bed‑sheets, among 130 families on 26 and 27 July.


Disturbance Relief

Manipur: Continuing its relief operations among the victims of ethnic clashes which began in May, Imphal centre distributed the following items from 1  to 20 July in 25 relief camps in Imphal East, Imphal West and Kakching districts sheltering 3000 people from 907 families: 2630 kg pulses, 320 kg soya chunks, 570 litres cooking oil, 289 kg assorted spices, 745 kg sugar, 1560 packets of biscuits, 73 kg baby food, 48 kg Horlicks, 123 kg infant milk, 466 kg milk powder, 88 kg tea powder, 375 plates, 403 glasses, 22 spoons, 1732 tubes of toothpaste, 433 toothbrushes, 1768 bars of bathing soap, 16 kg detergent powder, 6452 sachets of shampoo, 1368 bottles of hair oil, 494 combs, 504 baby diapers, 96 sanitary pads, 320 containers of talcum powder, 100 mats, 923 towels, 92 mosquito nets, 665 bed-sheets, 1230 blankets, 3214 notebooks, 540 pens, 480 pencils, 530 crayons, 470 pencil sharpeners and 470 erasers.


Distress Relief

India:

  • Ahmedabad: 200 plates of food, 150 kg rice, 250 kg wheat flour, 50 kg pulses, 50 litres cooking oil, 50 kg salt, 5 kg assorted spices, 50 kg sugar, 5 kg tea leaves and 100 bars of soap on 25 May.
  • Davanagere: 145 kg rice, 87 kg jowar (millet), 29 kg pulses, 7 kg gram and 15 kg jaggery on 1 July.
  • Indore: 3400 notebooks, 90 pencils, 90 erasers, 90 pencil sharpeners, 90 compass boxes and 90 water bottles on 8 and 28 July.
  • Kalyani: 124 kg rice, 12 kg pulses, 12 kg soya chunks and 62 packets of biscuits on 16 July.
  • Koyilandy: 250 bags, 2900 notebooks, 250 geometry boxes, 794 pens, 250 pencils and 250 umbrellas from 2 to 7 June.
  • Madurai: 220 kg rice, 66 kg pulses, 44 litres cooking oil, 22 kg sambar powder, 44 kg semolina, 11 kg tamarind, 22 packets of biscuits, 113 school bags, 631 notebooks and cloth for 13 sets of school uniforms on 3 June and 7 July.
  • Raipur: 500 schoolbags, 1000 notebooks, 500 pens, 500 pencils, 500 pencil sharpeners, 500 erasers and 500 scales on 14 July.

Bangladesh:

Bagerhat: 100 dhotis, 100 uttariyas and 50 saris on 29 April, and 2 bicycles on 19 July.


 

South Africa:

  • Durban: 270 plates of food, 430 kg rice, 325 kg wheat flour, 470 kg maize meal, 345 kg pulses, 20 kg vegetables, 120 kg porridge, 222 litres cooking oil, 197 kg salt, 150 cans of jam, 826 cans of tinned food, 80 loaves of bread, 173 litres fruit juice, 15,300 tea bags, 120 litres milk, 328 kg sugar, 88 blankets and 120 bars of washing soap in July.

Economic Rehabilitation

Odisha: Puri Math centre donated 15 sewing machines to as many poor women in Puri district on 10 July.


Infrastructural Support

Tamil Nadu: Salem centre donated a crash cart trolley, an instrument trolley, a dressing trolley and 3 suction apparatuses to a government hospital in Omalur on 10 July.
