Vasanta Vihara Summer Camp : Mysuru, April 2026

Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysuru

A summer camp titled ‘Vasanta Vihara’ was organized by Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysuru, from 13 to 19 April 2026. The program saw the participation of 60 students (38 boys and 22 girls) from classes 8, 9, and 10.

During the week-long camp, daily sessions on yogasanas and bhajans were conducted to promote physical and spiritual well-being. Monks and eminent orators delivered enlightening talks on various topics, including the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda, the noble personalities of the Mahabharata, and principles of Personality Development.

Creative and skill-building sessions were a significant highlight. Participants engaged in painting on cloth bags and workshops on dramatics. Special sessions on STEM activities and biological illustration were conducted by Prof. Shashikala, a noted expert whose drawings are utilized in academic textbooks. Furthermore, awareness sessions covering food and healthy living, herpetology (snakes), and the role of print media were held by competent resource persons.

Nutritious breakfast and juice refreshments were served to all participants every day throughout the duration of the camp.

The camp concluded on 19 April 2026 with a solemn Matrivandana ceremony—a unique event where each student performed a ceremonial worship of their mother. This was followed by a valedictory program in front of a full gathering of parents and guests. The students showcased their learning through a yogasana display, a Carnatic instrumental classical performance, and a narration on the life of Sister Nivedita. A short drama on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda and songs on environmental awareness were also performed.

To encourage excellence, six prizes were awarded to the best-performing participants among the boys and girls.
