On 12 January 2026, Ramakrishna Mission, Chengalpattu, celebrated National Youth Day with great enthusiasm, involving students, staff, and the general public. The campus was beautifully decorated with flex banners and traditional Kolams (Rangoli) to mark the occasion.
The day commenced with a solemn Pushpanjali at Swami Vivekananda’s statue, followed by a grand assembly at the Girls’ School ground attended by approximately 3,000 students. The morning session was graced by the Chief Guest, Smt. Thiruvalarselvi, Chief Educational Officer of Chengalpattu District. During the event, prizes were distributed to the winners of various elocution, recitation, essay, and drawing competitions held in the preceding days. The Chief Guest addressed the students on Swamiji’s vision of true education, while the Secretary Swami and school Headmasters also shared inspiring messages.
Following the meeting, the District Educational Officer flagged off a vibrant procession. Students and monastics marched through the streets of Chengalpattu to the Railway Station, carrying Swamiji’s portrait and placards of his teachings. At the station, participants gathered before two plaques commemorating Swamiji’s historic return from Chicago. After an Arati to the Holy Trio, the Boys’ School Headmaster addressed the public on the day’s significance. The event concluded with the distribution of refreshments and the free sharing of Tamil booklets and leaflets containing Swamiji’s quotes.
