The Ramakrishna Mission Students’ Home, Chennai, observed the 130th Foundation Day of the Ramakrishna Mission on 1st May 2026 with due reverence and spiritual fervour. The programme was attended by the students, teachers, devotees, and well-wishers of the institution.
As part of the celebrations, high school students of the institution presented a drama depicting the historic formation of the Ramakrishna Mission — a congregation that traces its origin to 1st May 1897, when Swami Vivekananda formally established the organisation at Baranagore. The presentation offered the audience a vivid portrayal of the ideals and founding vision of the Mission.
The keynote address was delivered by Swami Tatprabhananda, who spoke on the significance of the day and the enduring relevance of the Mission’s ideals of service and spirituality in contemporary life. The benedictory address was delivered by Swami Jnanaswarupananda, whose words of spiritual guidance and encouragement concluded the formal proceedings on an uplifting note.
In the morning, a free buttermilk distribution seva was inaugurated for the benefit of the general public. This charitable service, offered as a relief measure during the summer months, will continue daily from 1st May 2026 to 31st May 2026, with 1,000 glasses of buttermilk being distributed each day.rable expressions of a single spiritual vision.
