Flood Relief
Himachal Pradesh: Continuing its flood relief operations in Mandi district, the Shimla centre distributed relief materials among affected families from 15 to 27 August. Altogether 150 families received a total of 60 kg pulses, 100 tarpaulins, 150 solar lanterns with panels, 25 blankets, 435 sets of school uniforms, 500 notebooks, 500 pens and 100 umbrellas.
Uttarakhand: Heavy rainfall and cloudbursts triggered devastating flash floods and landslides across several regions of Uttarkashi district, resulting in significant loss of life and property. In response, the Dehradun centre set up 3 medical camps at Bhatwari and Harsil villages, and Uttarkashi town from 6 to 24 August. The centre also supplied general medicines to these camps and distributed 100 kits to the mothers who had been airlifted from the affected areas. Each kit contained a baby care set, a bottle of Chyawanprash, a packet of diapers, a set of baby garments, a pack of sanitary pads, a towel and a baby blanket.
West Bengal: Floods caused by heavy rains wreaked havoc in some parts of West Bengal in August. In the wake of the calamity, our centres conducted relief services in the affected regions. The details are as follows:
- Bajepratappur (Bardhaman) centre distributed 1222 kg rice, 150 kg chira (rice flakes), 122 kg puffed rice, 1220 kg potatoes, 500 litres drinking water and 500 packets of flavoured drink among 244 families in Paschim Medinipur district on 12 August.
- Naora centre distributed 15,000 kg rice, 3600 kg pulses, 9000 kg potatoes, 3000 kg soya chunks, 3000 litres cooking oil and 3000 packets of biscuits to 3000 families on 23 and 24 August. 100 tarpaulins were also distributed among 100 families on 16 August in South 24 Parganas district.

Tamil Nadu: Konampatti centre served 1550 glasses of buttermilk in August.
Distress Relief
The following centres distributed various items to needy people, as detailed below:
India:
- Coimbatore Mission: 160 kg rice, 8 kg pulses, 76 kg nutrition powder, 800 g tea powder, 12 kg sugar and 8 litres kerosene oil from 27 July to 24 August.
- Kalyani: 280 kg rice, 28 kg semolina, 70 kg puffed rice, 35 kg pulses, 35 kg soya chunks, 140 kg potatoes, 14 kg turmeric powder and 35 kg sugar on 17 August.
- Kolhapur: 570 bananas, 130 packets of biscuits and 150 packets of chanachur (snack mix) in July.
- Koyilandy: 21 saris, 15 dhotis and 58 dresses on 16 August.
- Limbdi: 910 kg wheat in June and July.
- Madurai: Provision kits to 39 eye patients on 21 August. Each kit contained 1 kg semolina, 1 kg pulses, 1 litre cooking oil, 200 g chilli powder, 500 g sambar powder, 500 g tamarind, 1 kg sugar and a bar of bathing soap.
- Malda: 100 kg rice and 200 kg potatoes from 6 to 27 July.
- Nattarampalli: 110 kg pulses, 69 litres cooking oil, 23 kg assorted spices, 69 kg salt, 7 kg tea powder, 69 kg sugar, 69 packets of biscuits and 69 bottles of hair oil on 19 August.
- Porbandar: Ration kits to 125 families. Each kit contained 3 kg rice, 5 kg flour, 3 kg bajra (pearl millet), 1 kg pulses, 1 kg besan (gram flour), 2 litres cooking oil, 1 kg salt, 750 g assorted spices, 1 kg molasses, 500 g tea and 1 kg snacks on 16 August.
- Somsar: 200 saris and 50 umbrellas on 29 June and 4 August.
- Thirumukkudal: Meals to 187 persons and provisions kits to 108 persons with intellectual disability on 15 August. Each kit contained 5 kg rice, 1.5 kg pulses, 500 ml cooking oil, 400 g assorted spices, 1 kg salt, a bar of bathing soap and a bar of laundry soap.
- Vadodara: 570 kg flour, 215 kg rice, 138 kg pulses, 75 litres cooking oil, 11 kg assorted spices, 45 kg salt, 85 kg sugar, 21 kg tea powder and 20 bars of bathing soap on 3 and 22 August.
- Varanasi Home of Service: 219 kg dalia (wheat groats), 35 kg chira, 18 kg gram, 5 kg groundnuts, 6.4 kg soya chunks, 8 litres cooking oil, 64 litres milk, 3 kg malt drink mix, 37 kg dry fruits, 88 packets of biscuits, 14.5 kg sweets, 36 sets of school uniforms, 94 bars of bathing soap and 90 tubes of toothpaste from 1 to 30 July.
Bangladesh: Bagerhat: 80 saris, 30 lungis and 15 dhotis on 18 August.
Fiji: Fiji centre: 420 diapers, 2 bedsheets, 5 wheelchairs, 2 wheelie walkers, 2 elbow walkers, 13 hospital beds, and 1 oxygen concentrator between May and August.
- Durban: 556 meals, 382 kg rice, 66 kg flour, 83 kg pasta, 190 kg maize meal, 369 kg pulses, 170 kg porridge, 82 kg potatoes, 50 bunches of spinach, 50 bunches of coriander, 315 litres cooking oil, 188 kg salt, 132 cans of jam, 480 cans of tinned food, 135 litres fruit juice, 18,400 tea bags, 176 litres milk, 212 kg sugar, 51 loaves of bread, 180 candles, 450 matchboxes, 162 bars of bathing soap, 212 bars of laundry soap, 120 tubes of toothpaste, 5 blankets, 67 sets of hoodies and 182 shopping bags in August.

TB Patients’ Relief
West Bengal: Sikra Kulingram centre distributed nutrition kits to 13 local TB patients on 29 August. Each kit contained 500 g sattu (roasted gram flour), 1 kg pulses, 500 g gram, 1 kg soya chunks, 450 ml cooking oil and 200 g groundnuts.
Flood Rehabilitation
Himachal Pradesh: Flash floods in Mandi district damaged several houses. In response, the Shimla centre provided 226 corrugated tin sheets to 30 severely affected families between 15 and 27 August to help them repair the roofs of their houses.
Distress Rehabilitation
West Bengal: The Headquarters, through Gourhati centre, built 3 houses under ‘Build your own house’ scheme for poor families in Hooghly district. The houses were handed over to the families on 3 August.
Infrastructural Rehabilitation

Fiji: Fiji centre provided 1000 eyeglasses and a baby scale to hospitals in Nadi, Fiji, between May and August.
