Relief Services : A Report As On 01 December 2025

West Bengal: In response to the October floods in North Bengal, Darjeeling centre distributed the following relief materials to 82 affected families in Darjeeling district between 13 October and 7 November:

  • 75 ration kits (each kit containing 10 kg rice, 5 kg flour, 2 kg semolina, 1.2 kg noodles, 3 kg pulses, 2 kg matar (peas), 2 kg soya chunks, 2 litres cooking oil, 2 kg salt, 700 g grounded spices, 2 kg sugar and 2 packets of biscuits)
  • 50 sets of bedding (each set containing 2 mattresses, 2 bedsheets, 4 pillows, 4 pillow covers and 2 tarpaulins)
  • 50 sets of utensils (each set containing a pressure cooker, a kadai (wok), 2 casseroles, a saucepan, 4 plates, 4 tumblers, a ladle, a spatula, 4 spoons, 2 buckets and 2 mugs)
  • 50 sets of toiletries (each set comprising 2 bathing soaps, 2 dishwashing soaps, a packet of detergent powder, a bottle of hair oil, a diaper, 4 toothbrushes and a tube of toothpaste)
  • 40 sets of stationery items (each set having 4 notebooks, 2 pens, 2 pencils, 2 erasers, a pencil sharpener, a ruler and a school bag)
  • 164 blankets

Distress Relief

The headquarters and the following centres distributed various items to the needy, as detailed below:

India:

  • Chandigarh: 150 ration kits (each kit contained 5 kg flour, 2 kg pulses, 1 litre cooking oil, 1 kg salt and 300 g spices), 20 tarpaulins and 150 buckets on 2 November.
  • Coimbatore Mission: 10.5 kg pulses, 1.7 kg semolina, 55 kg nutrition powder, 3.5 litres oil, 7 kg salt, 4.9 kg sugar and 350 g tea powder from 27 October to 24 November.
  • Cuttack: 300 saris and 200 lungis from 28 October to 22 November.
  • Dakshineshwar, Kolkata: 8 saris, 7 lungis, 73 dhotis, 73 uttariyas, 85 T-shirts, 42 shirts and 85 children’s garments from 7 November to 16 November.
  • Falakata: 36 saris on 26 September.
  • Gourhati: 450 saris, 200 lungis and 100 dhotis from 4 September to 12 November.
  • Guwahati: 75 kg rice, 80 kg pulses, 10 kg salt, 255 dhotis and 13.5 kg detergent powder from 24 October to 20 November.
  • Hatamuniguda: 90 litres fruit juice, 391 saris, 90 dhotis, 220 lungis, 90 tubes of toothpaste, 90 toothbrushes and 90 bottles of hair oil from 9 October to 9 November.
  • Headquarters (through Baganchra ashrama): 30 saris, 6 shirts, 12 vests, 6 trousers, 14 ladies’ garments, 4 gents’ garments, 13 children’s garments, 10 mosquito nets, 4 gamchas (towels), 3 umbrellas, 10 buckets and 10 mugs on 24 November.
  • Indore: 300 saris and 300 packets of sweets on 15 November.
  • Khetri: 180 children’s garments on 30 September.
  • Krishnanagar: 127 provision kits and 175 saris from 15 to 23 November. Each kit contained 100 g milk powder, a packet of biscuits, a tube of toothpaste, a toothbrush, a tongue cleaner, a bar of bathing soap, 250 g detergent powder and a bottle of hair oil.
  • Limbdi: 470 kg wheat in October.
  • Madurai: Provision kits to 62 eye patients on 30 October. Each kit contained 1 kg semolina, 1 kg pulses, 1 litre cooking oil, 200 g chilli powder, 500 g sambar powder, 500 g tamarind, 1 kg sugar and a bar of bathing soap.
  • Narendrapur, Kolkata: 400 saris, 200 lungis, 100 dhotis and 100 uttariyas from 28 August to 28 September.
  • Raipur: 175 dhotis on 23 November.
  • Salem: 150 kg rice flakes, 200 kg ragi flour, 150 kg pulses, 100 kg chana (chickpeas), 100 kg lobia (cowpeas), 150 kg gram, 50 kg dates and 100 kg fried gram among 100 expectant women on 13 November.
  • Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair): 95 packets of biscuits, 95 pouches of flavoured drink, 95 mosquito nets, 95 bars of bathing soap and 285 packets of detergent powder on 16 November.
  • Swamiji’s Ancestral House, Kolkata: 300 saris and 200 lungis from 7 to 25 September.
  • Thirumukkudal: 180 meals and 116 provision kits on 8 November. Each kit contained 5 kg rice, 1.75 kg pulses, 500 ml cooking oil, 400 g assorted spices, 1 kg salt, a bar of bathing soap and a bar of laundry soap.
  • Varanasi Home of Service: 288 kg dalia (wheat groats), 35 kg chira, 18 kg gram, 5 kg groundnuts, 8 litres cooking oil, 64 litres milk, 3 kg malt drink mix, 39 kg dry fruits, 88 packets of biscuits, 16.5 kg sweets, 94 bars of bathing soap, 90 bottles of hair oil and 30 LED lights from 8 to 31 October.
  • Viveknagar, Agartala: 1800 food packets to footpath dwellers from 20 October to 19 November.
  • Vrindavan: Ration kits to 125 widow mothers on 31 October. Each kit contained 2 kg flour, 2 kg rice, 500 g pulses, 500 ml cooking oil, 1 kg salt, a packet of turmeric powder, 500 g sugar, a biscuits packet, 200 g milk powder and 100 g tea powder.

Bangladesh: Narayanganj: 35 saris on 9 November.

Nepal: Kathmandu: 84 school bags on 13 November.

South Africa:

Durban: 765 meals, 370 kg rice, 130 kg flour, 68.5 kg pasta, 169.5 kg maize meal, 266 kg pulses, 132 kg porridge, 21 kg potatoes, 159 litres cooking oil, 160 kg salt, 132 cans of jam, 460 cans of tinned food, 102 litres fruit juice, 53 soup packets, 14,548 tea bags, 134 litres milk, 185 kg sugar, 170 matchboxes, 134 bars of bathing soap, 182 bars of laundry soap, 132 bathing sponge, 134 tubes of toothpaste, 132 toothbrushes, 72 ladies’ garments, 36 gents’ garments, 22 pillows and 40 sets of comforters in November.

Winter Relief

The headquarters and the following centres distributed blankets and winter wear, as mentioned against their names, to needy people:

India:

  • Visakhapatnam: 500 blankets on 11 and 16 November.
  • Belagavi: 500 blankets on 9 November.
  • Chandigarh: 150 blankets on 2 November.
  • Dakshineshwar, Kolkata: 315 blankets from 7 to 16 November.
  • Falakata: 24 blankets on 26 September.
  • Headquarters (through Baganchra ashrama): 39 woollen caps and 10 woollen mufflers on 24 November.
  • Indore: 300 blankets on 15 November.
  • Kailashahar: 104 blankets on 23 November.
  • Khetri: 47 blankets on 26 October.
  • Narainpur: 550 blankets on 23 October.
  • Narottam Nagar: 800 blankets on 11 and 22 November.
  • Ooty: 45 blankets on 14 November.
  • Raipur: 210 blankets on 23 November.
  • Sribhumi (Karimganj): 600 blankets from 12 to 25 November.
  • Srinagar: 200 blankets from 3 November to 9 November.
  • Swamiji’s Ancestral House, Kolkata: 500 blankets from 3 September to 14 November.
  • Tamluk: 2000 blankets from 25 October to 18 November.

Flood Rehabilitation

West Bengal: Floods in October caused extensive damage to many houses in North Bengal. In response, Darjeeling centre provided 105 corrugated tin sheets to 7 severely affected families between 13 October and 5 November to help them repair the roofs of their houses.


Economic Rehabilitation

India:

Assam: Guwahati centre provided a sewing machine to a needy woman on 21 November.

Tamil Nadu: (a) Nattarampalli Math gave 15 sewing machines to as many underprivileged women, on 20 November, upon completion of their training from the centre’s tailoring unit. (b) Thanjavur Math set up a shop and handed it over to a differently-abled couple in Vallam, Thanjavur, on 21 November.

Bangladesh: Bagerhat centre handed over 4 sewing machines to 4 disadvantaged women on 16 November.


Distress Rehabilitation

Kerala: Koyilandy centre handed over a walker to an underprivileged and physically challenged woman in Koyilandy, Kozhikode district. Tamil Nadu: Ooty Math provided tailored artificial limbs and mobility kits to 45 differently-abled persons.
