Flood Relief
(i) Haryana: (a) Chandigarh: Heavy monsoon rains, combined with dam water releases, triggered severe flooding across Punjab and Haryana in August. In response to the damage caused by the flood, Chandigarh centre distributed 12 ration kits (each kit containing 10 kg wheat, 3 kg pulses, 5 litres cooking oil, 200 g ground spices, 200 g turmeric and 1 kg salt), 150 tarpaulins, 15 folding beds, 12 buckets and 12 cooking pots to affected families in Kurukshetra district, Haryana, on 11 October. The centre also provided a blackboard and 185 school kits to a school in Kurukshetra district that day. Each kit included a school bag, notebooks, pencils, an eraser and a sharpener.
(b) Himachal Pradesh: Continuing its flood relief, Shimla centre distributed the following items among 65 families in Shimla district from 2 to 4 October: 650 kg rice, 650 kg flour, 130 kg pulses, 97.5 litre cooking oil, 130 kg salt, 32.5 kg turmeric powder, 13 kg other spices, 195 kg sugar, 13 kg milk powder, 32.5 kg tea, 130 packets of candles, 1300 matchboxes, 130 bars of bathing soap, 130 bars of laundry soap and 65 kg detergent powder.
(ii) Jammu and Kashmir: In the second phase of its flood relief, Jammu centre distributed 100 bedding sets (each set consisted of a mattress, a mat, a bedsheet, a top sheet warmer and a pillow), and 100 utensil sets (each set contained 2 cooking pots, a frying pan, 5 plates, 5 bowls, 5 cups, a ladle, 2 serving spoons, 5 soup spoons and a scrubber) to 200 families in Jammu district from 25 September to 7 October.

(iii) Uttar Pradesh: The incessant rainfall and the water released from dams led to severe waterlogging in Vrindavan. In response, Vrindavan centre served meals and distributed buns, bananas and biscuit packets to 1800 people from 4 to 21 September. The centre also distributed 280 kg rice, 280 kg flour, 70 kg pulses, 35 litres cooking oil, 7 kg turmeric powder, 70 kg salt, 35 kg sugar, 17.5 kg milk powder, 7 kg tea leaves and 70 bars of laundry soap among 70 families in Mathura district on 21 September. Additionally, the centre set up a medical camp, where 200 patients were treated.
(iv) West Bengal: Relentless rainfall in early October caused devastating floods across North Bengal, leading to landslides, the destruction of bridges, and loss of life. In response, our centres rendered the following relief services in the affected regions:

(a) Jalpaiguri centre served meals to 1200 people in Jalpaiguri district and distributed 1330 litres drinking water, 215 kg chira (rice flakes), 107 kg jaggery, 12.5 litres milk, 165 bananas, 330 packets of biscuits, 50 chikkis (peanut bars), 1290 candles, 330 toothbrushes, 165 tubes of toothpaste, 165 matchboxes, 215 bars of bathing soap, 50 sachets of ORS, 50 saris, 50 dhotis, 50 gamchas (towels), 50 blankets, 50 mosquito nets, 50 buckets, 50 tumblers, 50 plates, 50 dishes, 100 packets of mosquito repellent sticks and 50 kg bleaching powder to 215 affected families from 5 to 7 October. The centre is continuing its relief services in the affected region.

(b) Malda centre distributed 250 kg flour, 40 kg chira, 20 kg soya chunks, 110 litres cooking oil, 250 bars of bathing soap, 25 bottles of antiseptic liquid, 100 bedsheets, 130 mosquito nets and 130 blankets among 145 persons in Malda district on 8 October.

(c) Siliguri centre served meals to 3500 persons and distributed 2000 packets of biscuits, 10,000 pouches of drinking water, 40 kg chira, 30 kg jaggery, 450 saris, 103 dhotis, 124 tarpaulins and 293 blankets among 374 families in Jalpaiguri district from 5 to 9 October. Additionally, the centre set up a medical relief camp from 5 to 12 October, where 355 patients were treated.
Fire Relief

Arunachal Pradesh: Following a fire accident at Deomali in Tirap district, Narottam Nagar centre provided relief items to an affected family on 12 October. The items included 26 kg rice, 5 kg pulses, 20 kg potatoes, 5 kg onions, 500 g garlic, 3 litre cooking oil, 4 kg salt, 600 gm assorted spices, 5 kg sugar, a packet of tea, 500 gm detergent powder, 4 bars of soap, 2 tarpaulins, a blanket, 2 mosquito nets, 2 shirts, a utensils set [containing a cooking pot, a kadhai (wok), a saucepan, a bucket, a mug, 2 plates, 2 glasses, 2 bowls and 2 ladles] and other miscellaneous items.

- Viveknagar, Agartala: 5525 food packets, 480 saris, 160 T-shirts and 175 children’s garments to footpath dwellers from 21 July to 23 October.
- Vrindavan: Ration kits to 1600 widow mothers in September. Each kit contained 4 kg flour, 4 kg rice, 1 kg pulses, 250 g soya chunks, half litre cooking oil, 1 kg salt, 100 g turmeric powder, 500 g sugar, 250 g milk powder, 100 g tea leaves and a bar of bathing soap.

Tamil Nadu: Chengam centre gave 9 sewing machines to nine underprivileged women, upon completion of their tailoring course from the centre’s free training school, on 2 October.
Infrastructural Support
Tamil Nadu: Thanjavur centre provided 2 cooking pots, 2 large containers with lids, 4 plates, 15 ladles, 4 serving spoons, 100 tumblers, 15 buckets, 7 jugs, a rice-drainer and 50 chairs to an orphanage in Thanjavur on 28 August.
