Obituary

We record with sorrow the passing away of Swami Purnabrahmananda (Dulal) at Seva Pratishthan, Kolkata, on 20 April, the sacred Akshaya Tritiya day, at 6.10 pm. He was 71. An initiated disciple of Swami Bhuteshanandaji Maharaj, he joined the order in 1979 at Belur Math and received sannyasa diksha from Swami Gambhiranandaji Maharaj in 1988. He served at the Headquarters (in the General Section) and at Baghbazar, Jayrambati, Bhubaneswar, and Seva Pratishthan centres as an assistant, and at Cooch Behar and Barisha centres as the head. He was also a sevak of Swami Hiranmayanandaji for several years. The swami was fond of ritualistic worship and had the privilege of performing daily worship at the Holy Mother Temple in Belur Math for some days. He had been staying at Arogya Bhavan, Belur Math, for the last three years. Sociable and affectionate by nature, he endeared himself to all who came in contact with him.
